Hi there,

I have a Wordpress blog that gave me nice exposure but was a bit difficult to personalize without web design skills.

Since, I found Uber.com . It's a platform for DIY publisher, highly oriented for creative content such music, photo, design, fashion and blog.

The great idea of Uber is offering modules to click and drag on your page. Slideshow, videos, music player, blog, rss feed, custom html, embedded apps, comments section, lots of layout possibilities and lots of other ones. Each module is totally customizable.

Plus it's a great community of creative people.

Just take a look at my site to see what's possible to do and visit some other pages. You could have your music site up in an hour or two.

They even organized a great music contest with awesome contract recording with Atlantic Records (Limewire was the winner). I had myself 3000 views during the contest and had great exposure. I even found new collaboration with other artists.

Check out www.uber.com/icesixxx !

Of course, I also recommend to have multiple presence on the Internet. Think Myspace, Sellaband, Ourstage, Reverbnation, Unsigned, Zikpot (for French audience), LastFM, ...

Cheers!

Blogging is a really nice and effective marketing technique, although you know you won't get overnight results as in the case of viral messaging over social networking websites. It takes a great deal of work.
I know the time and effort involved in building a website, that's why i guess for breakthrough artists blogging platforms can help tremendously.
Still i wouldn't ditch the social networking phenomenon already. You could still use it as a means of promoting your blog and eventually your music.

Blogging is based on communities, building a passionate and reliable community and if you have that community you can easily impose your music, you are right.
